Abstract

14,980. Hadwin, H. June 27. Rivets; washers.-In a plate fastener for driving-belts, rivets c with hollow ends are employed for securing the plate b to the belt ends a. The rivet heads, or washers used in connexion therewith, are provided with annular ribs c<2>, Fig. 4, or radial ribs c<3>, Fig. 5, and grooves are provided near the ends of the rivets, as shown in Fig. 4, to engage the plate when it is forced into position. A tool d, Fig. 3, is employed for forcing the rivet into the desired position, and a tool e is employed to spread the end of the rivet.
