Abstract

14,463. McNaught, W. June 20. Passing materials through fluid-supplying apparatus; wool-washing type.-Relates to woolscouring machines or the like wherein the usual squeezing-rollers a, b are employed, and consists in the provision of means for distributing pressure evenlv to both ends of the rollers. The under roller a is mounted in fixed bearings and co-operates with an upper roller b mounted in vertically movable bearings. A lever d is connected to each of the bearing-blocks of the upper roller. The ends of the levers d are connected by rods f to a beam g centrally pivoted to a link h. A spring k is arranged at the end of one of the levers d, and provides the squeezing pressure. Owing to the link-work d, f, g, an equal pressure is applied at each end of the roller b. In a modification, the spring pressure is applied directly to the centre of the beam g. In both modifications, means are provided for slackening the springs when the machines are out of use.
