Straight tubes between headers.-Tanks D serving as connecting-boxes for sets of tubes H are mechanically secured to the main headers A, packing C being interposed to make a watertight joint. The tubes are fixed in the tanks D also by mechanical means to facilitate replacement. One such joint is illustrated in Fig. 5, comprising a sliding collar K pressed by a spring, which abuts against a rib M on the tube, against packing J in a recess on the tubeplate G.
