Abstract

12,227. Gowlland, C. S. May 23. Sight-testing apparatus.-In stationary ophthalmoscopes, retinoscopes, &c., the mirror d is mounted on a spring - urged tiltable plate e so that it can he inclined in any direction and will return to its original position on release. The plate e is mounted on a hinged eyepiece secured to the body-tube a by a catch a* and the lamp used for illumination can be masked. The lenses used for ophthalmoscopy can he turned out of the way by a movement of the rod n to adapt the instrument for use as a retinoscope, adjustable fixation points q are provided and the mirror s enables the patient to read test-type above and behind him. The tube of the instrument is capable of fine lateral adjustment.
