Abstract

[Cognate Applications, 13,191/12 and 17,204/12.] Bridles.-An eye-guard for ponies and other animals is made of strands or lengths K, Fig. 1, which are spaced apart and arranged transversely to the long axis of the eye. The space between the leather &c. material M, to which the upper ends of the strands are secured, and the piece E, which may or may not form part of a widened cheek-strap of the bridle, gradually narrows towards the rear, and the lower edge C of the material M does not reach lower than the level of the anterior corners of the eyes. The upper ends of the strands are so secured that a cushioning action occurs in the event of a blow. The strands may be formed as a frame instead of being secured individually. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the strands are secured over apertures in a bridle covering the animal's face. The strands may be of rope with a stiffener enclosed, electric cable, cane with or without a stiffener, celluloid, fibre, or leather, or they may be made of metal other than wire. In the Provisional Specifications, various other methods of and materials for forming the strands are described.
