Gyroscopic apparatus. - A gyrostat for demonstrating the properties and practical applications of the gyroscope comprises a fly-wheel mounted in a casing provided with means of attachment adapted to engage with auxiliary devices such as gimbal rings, stilts, a pendulum suspension, &c. A suitable form of gyrostat for this purpose comprises a motor with a rotary armature A supported by disks D on a stationary shaft to which are clamped the field magnets P, commutator studs J on one of the disks D contacting with the brush gear L. The whole is enclosed in a casing H which has a peripheral flange and screw-threaded bosses a &c. for engaging with the auxiliary devices referred to above.
