Abstract

8230. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. April 4. [Addition to 894/11.] Aminoanthraquinone carboxylic acids and esters, and derivatives thereof are obtained by condensing an ester of 1-nitro, or 1-halogenanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid, or a derivative of these compounds, with ammonia or with a primary or secondary amine and hydrolysing the esters thus obtained if desired. In examples 2:4- and 3:4-dichloranilines, 1- and 2-aminoanthraquinones, 1:4- and 2:6-aminoanthraquinones, and 1-amino-4-oxyanthraquinone are the amines used. 1-Chloranthraquinone-2-carboxylic methyl and ethyl esters are crvstalline compounds melting at 164‹ C. and 142‹ C. respectively. 1-Nitroanthraquinone-2-carboxylic ethyl ester is a crystalline compound melting at from 232- 233‹ C.
