Abstract

4450. Sabin, J. A. Feb. 22. Coating-machines.-Apparatus for gumming, waxing, cleaning, and polishing the stitches on the welts of boots &c. comprises a frame 1 carrying a gumming-device 10 and cleaning and polishing disk 24. The gumming-device comprises a gumming-reservoir 14 communicating by pipes 15, 16 with a trough 12, in which rotates a disk &c. 10, provided with a chamfered or other edge 11 for applying the gum. The trough 12 has a hinged cover 20 provided with an opening 22 through which the edge of the disk 10 projects. A scraper for removing excess of gum from the disk is mounted in the trough 12.
