Abstract

231. Singh, N. Jan. 3. Calendars.-A perpetual calendar, adapted for use with dates according to the Julian and Gregorian systems, comprises one annular table divided into seven sections b<1>, b<2> ... b<7> as shown, each section displaying the names of the months in order, and on either side thereof a single week-day which indicates the day on which falls the given day of the month in the ordinary or leap years shown on the outside or inside, respectively, of the section. Combined with this table and arranged in the centre thereof, is a second table which shows a calendar for the week commencing on the given week-day, and also comprises tabular means for making the necessary adjustments for centuries according to the two systems referred to. In a modification, the names of the calendar months are given in one section only, and are not repeated.
