Annealing-boxes.-In an annealing-pot of the kind in which the cover has a separate and renewable top, the upper edge of the body of the cover is made to project above the highest point of the top and the top is wholly covered and concealed by the sand used for sealing the junction. The top b may be supported on or riveted to flanges a<2>, or may have vertical flanges riveted to the body a; or a flange on the top b may enter a channel on the body a. Loose supporting-bars b<1> may be provided; or they may be formed in one with the top b or the body a. The top b may be made of fireclay or other refractory material.
