Cams.-Various means are described for longitudinally adjusting a wedge which moves an eccentric, cam, or like device transversely across a shaft to vary its throw. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the eccentric sheave 2 is arranged between disks 8, 9 secured to the shaft 1 and is moved transversely across the shaft by means of a wedge moved longitudinally by a screw 17 and hand-wheel 20. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6, the wedge 5 is moved by a forked lever which engages a grooved disk 32 keyed to extensions on the wedge. The lever is held in position by means of a clamping-nut and quadrant. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, the rectangular wedge 5 is hollow and has an extension 26 rotatably connected to a hand-operated screw which moves in a fixed support 28. In an arrangement similar to that shown in Fig. 6, a grooved disk is secured to the extensions 30 and adjusted by means of a toothed sector in engagement therewith. In a second arrangement similar to that shown in Fig. 6, the lever is arranged in a vertical plane and the flange 8 is replaced by a pedestal or support. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 10, the shaft and eccentrics are carried by hanging supports 52, 53, 59. The wedge 5 is provided with a tubular extension which carries a cylindrical piece 56, by means of which it is moved by a screw 58. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 11, the eccentric is mounted upon a countershaft driven by bevel-gearing. The wedge is adjusted by means of a hand-wheel 69 and screw 70.
