Abstract
21,783. Hubbell, H. C. Oct. 3. Electrodes. - Ferrous oxide obtained from ferrous hydrate by heating and subsequently cooling, in both cases while out of contact with air, is used in electrodes such as the negatives of an alkaline accumulator, alone or with addition of other materials. The additions may comprise half its weight of green precipitated nickelous hydrate, or cobaltic hydrate or hydrated peroxide, or other active compounds or a corresponding proportion of either of these metals, or of finely divided iron, such as grey iron reduced by hydrogen, or of a quarter of its weight of cadmium oxide or a proportionate amount of the metal.
