Abstract

Actuating. - In a device for automatically operating a gas-valve or electric switch at predetermined times in which a single spring serves both for operating the time-keeping element and also for operating the valve &c., the restraining-device for the operating-mechanism comprises a worm-wheel g driven by the spring motor a, and a worm h gearing therewith and carrying a pin l adapted to engage a lever m carried by a spindle t, a pin p on the wormwheel g lifting the lever into engagement with the pin l after a predetermined time. Tappets, driven by one end of the main spring, act on an arm carried by the spindle t to release the lever m from the pin l, the other end of the mainspring being then free to rotate the spindle o connected to the valve &c. until the pin p lifts the lever m. This is arranged to take place at alternate revolutions of the worm - wheel. According to the Provisional Specification, a compensating-device may be employed for varying the times of operation according to the lengths of the days.
