Abstract

21,236. Knowles, W. H., and Goreham, W. F. Sept. 26. Seats.-Valves which may be employed for regulating the flow of heavy liquids or liquids containing solids, are formed with a knife-like edge C of hard or hardened metal such as hard steel on one part co-acting with a coned or flared portion D on the other. The valve may comprise an outwardly-flared internal seating and an outwardly-flared meeting edge, Fig. 1, or an inwardly - flared external seating and inwardly-flared meeting edge, Fig. 2. Guiding- rings E are formed on the valve member.
