Abstract

Compound fabrics; waterproof fabrics; waterproofing.-A waterproof fabric for tyres &c. is woven from yarns, of which the component fibres, threads, or strands are treated or impregnated with a rubber or other proofing solution. The yarns may also be proofed. The rubber &c. in the fabric may be rendered plastic by heating or by means of a solvent, and the fabric then pressed. The fibres &c. may be proofed by passing them one or more times over rollers in a vessel containing the proofing, and then between squeezing - rollers. Two or more layers may be united by vulcanization &c. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1836/63, 4026/74, 2028/81, 850/99, 4631/99, 6798/01, 14,122/02, and 18,988/08.
