Abstract

17,856. Thompson, W. P., [Coninck, A. de]. Aug. 5. Liquid level, maintaining.-An internal-combustion engine for a motor-vehicle is lubricated by a pump G which draws oil from a well I, in which a constant level is maintained. The level is determined by the height of the lower end J nf a pipe E connecting the upper parts of the well I and a closed reservoir A. When the level falls below that of the pipe J, air passes up the pipe and allows oil to flow down a pipe F. The reservoir A is provided with a gauge C, a valve B controlling the flow of oil through the pipe F, and a filter D arranged over the valve B.
