Abstract
16,591. McAdams, S. L. July 19. Trolly heads and pulleys.-A self-oiling electric trolley-wheel runs on a bearing consisting of a number of spokes 14 integral with a fixed spindle 11, each spoke haring an arcshaped head 14. The wheel 17 together with a removable side plate 13<c> have a shouldered groove 15, which runs without vibration on the heads 14b. Oil contained in the interior of the wheel is thrown centrifugally on to the bearing surfaces through the space between adjacent heads 14. To prevent the escape of oil, the openings 13d through which the spindle 11 passes are in the form of inwardly-extending conical flanges and are of such diameter that only sufficient oil passes out to lubricate the spring collecting-brushes 16 which bear against the sides of the wheel. The outer portion 17 of the wheel may be removable from the inner portion 17, or these two parts may be made in one piece.
