Abstract

16,509. Zodel, A. Jan. 9, [Convention date]. Regulating.-An hydraulic jet-wheel A is regulated by a governor-controlled servo-motor d which, acting through link-work e, f, H, adjusts the valve c situated in the nozzle a, and at the same time alters the angular position of the nozzle a, which is adapted to rock about a pivot b. The effect of this method of regulation is that for a smaller jet the centre of impact on the blades is situated at a greater distance from the axis of the turbine. A movable dash-pot n is connected to the nozzle, and the enclosed perforated piston is attached to the lever e. In the event, therefore, of a sudden decrease of load, the nozzle is deflected so that the jet entirely clears the blades. The weight of the dash-pot and the excess weight of the nozzle on the right side of the pivot b turn the nozzle slowly back into the angular position necessitated by the load conditions. Gradual variations of load do not bring the dash-pot device into effective operation. In a modification, the adjustment of the angle of the nozzle is effected by a second servo-motor instead of by a mechanical device.
