Abstract

13,302. Sadler, G. P. N. June 2. Balancing; cars, suspending - arrangements for. A weighted platform or other member is supported from the upper plane of a biplane by pivoted links, so that when the machine tilts the weight of the platform tends to restore balance. The platform 9 is connected to the upper plane 5 by four links 10 having rounded ends 14, Fig. 4, which fit into sockets secured to the corners of the platform and to the upper plane. Each socket consists of two parts 15, 16 bound together by a nut 19 after the parts are assembled. Each of the four sides of the platform is provided with a pair of crossed rods 20 having a slotted connexion 23, 33 with the platform. The upper ends of the rods 20 are slotted to accommodate a roller 27, Fig. 5, adapted to move on longitudinal and transverse guides 30 secured to the upper plane. When the machine tilts forwards, the upper ends of the forward supports 20 slide downwards on .the longitudinal guides 30 and the platform pulls on the rear of the upper plane by means of the side supports 20 and so restores equilibrium.
