Abstract

11,163. Podmore, W., and Bailey, C. F. May 9. Pressure filters. -Ceramic slip is submitted to filtration on both sides as it is passed downwards through a casing 18, the outward filtration being through a medium 16 outside a shell 15, and the inward filtration through a medium 24 within a perforated drum 22. The diameter of the drum is increased and the pitch of a helix 21 is diminished towards the lower end, so that the thickness of the stratum and the speed of travel are diminished as the treatment proceeds.
