Abstract

9944. P÷rscke, H. P. R. L., and Achenbach, J. A. E. April 27, 1910, [Convention date]. Electrodes for alkaline accumulators consist of poorly conductive active material without cond u c t i v e additions, pasted into metal gauze, which may have 300 meshes per sq. cm. Preferably, nickel gauze is used, the meshes being filled but not covered with the active material, such as green oxyhydrate of nickel for the positives and ferrous oxide for the negatives. The pasted gauze may be rolled upon a conductive strip or tube c, welded electrically to one end of it, and the resulting cylinder, after being compressed by rolling or in a mould, may be wound with nickel wire d attached at each end to the central tube c. The cylinder may then be covered with linen secured by string, or cotton may be spun upon it, to prevent disintegration, and a number of cylinders may be mounted, in contact or nearly so, in a light frame.
