7536. Smith, J., Mitchell, H. L., Askham, W. H., and Hey, H. March 25. Scrubbers and Washers.-Relates to a gas or vapour absorber or separator of the bubblescrubber type. A column a with gas inlet b and outlet c and liquid inlet d and outlet e is divided into compartments each containing a liquid-sealed bell g mounted on a rotating shaft m. Bristles j, sheets of wire gauze k or perforated plates l, are attached to the periphery of the bells to break up bubbles. Each bell has a dished top from which liquid flows by a liquid-sealed standpipe r to the bell below. The shaft m supporting the bells is adjusted by a wedge o to vary the immersion of the bells.
