6414. Pollard, F. A. March 26, 1910, [Convention date]. [Addition to 18,734/08.] Refrigerating, compression machines for.-In apparatus for the automatic regulation of liquefied gas refrigerating-apparatus, such as that described in the parent Specification, the valve 15 controlling the flow of liquefied gas from the condenser to the refrigerator is operated by an expansible tube 6 containing some of the liquefied gas, and acting through a flexible membrane 5, the sides of which are in contact with the gas passing to and from the refrigerator. The membrane 5 is held between two casings 1, 2, the casing 1 having a passage 10 leading to the suction of the compressor and a passage 11 connected to the outlet of the refrigerator. The casing 2 is fitted with a valve 15 having a rod 16 which is pressed against the membrane by a spring 21; a passage 19 leads from the condenser outlet, and a passage 18 leads to the inlet of the refrigerator. Other passages 12, 20 permit the pressures in the passage 18 and the casing 1, respectively, to be transmitted to the membrane 5. A rise of temperature in the gas passing from the refrigerator causes expansion of the tube 6 and opening of the valve 15, which admits liquefied gas to the refrigerator until a state of equilibrium is attained. The spring 21 is. regulated so that the vapour returned to the compressor is in a dry overheated condition.
