Refrigerators.-The cooling- chamber b of apparatus such as that described in Specification 4327/11 is fitted with pipes through which passes brine from the melting ice and salt in the ice chamber a. A W-shaped pipe c, connected to the lower ends of the ice chamber, communicates with the pipe d which extends upwardly and then in a downward direction, the outlet being above a trough e. The pipes may be arranged at the sides of the cooling-chamber, and may have cleaning-outlets c<1>. Part of the brine may flow down the outside of the cooling-chamber; or the space between the outer wall of the refrigerator and the chamber a may be filled with silicate of cotton, or be formed as a vacuum.
