Distilling zinc; dry processes of refining zinc; metals, powdered, obtaining coherent masses from.-The " blue powder " resulting from zinc distillation is melted to metallic zinc by heating it in the presence of a haloid salt, or its vapour, at a temperature of from 500-800‹ C. If much zinc oxide is present, the powder is mixed with a little solid reducing-agent, or a reducing-gas is led into the vessel wherein the melting is effected. An electric furnace may be used. Reference is made to Specification 26,788/10.
