Abstract

3812. Anderson, A. W. Feb. 15. Peeling and shelling fruit and nuts. - A peeling and scraping implement for fruit &c., of the type in which a bent blade d having an attached cutter f is used to remove the peel of oranges and the like by making an incision with the cutter and then forcing off the peel with the blade, is provided on the rear part of the blade with a cutting-edge k for paring apples &c., and with a blunter edge j for scraping the skin off the kernels of nuts. The rear part of the blade merges into a hook-shaped cutter, and is slotted at l to allow the apple peelings to pass therethrough. The cutter may also be used as a pick to remove the kernels of nuts from the shells, or for scraping the skin off irregularshaped kernels such as walnuts.
