Abstract

2262. Shepherd, A. Jan 28. Bobbins.-Relates to means for securing the heads to the barrel. The head a which may be of a single thickness of wood, Fig. 3, or of multi-ply veneer, Fig. 1, is joined to the barrel b by means of a bush c dovetailed at its outer end and provided with annular recesses c. The barrel has longitudinal grooves f. The bush and barrel are secured by applying glue or cement to one or both of them and pressing the bush home. The glue or cement fills the recesses and grooves and forms, when set, a locking- structure between the bush and barrel. The bush and barrel can be secured by means of a single annulus of hardened glue or cement in opposed grooves in the bush and barrel, preferably as shown in Fig. 3, with opposite corners lying in the common surface of the bush and barrel.
