Abstract

1826. Lyon, H. Feb. 2, 1910, [Convention date]. Lighting burners by electric devices. -In apparatus in which the pilot jet is surrounded by a tube 5, Fig. 1, provided with air inlets 11, and is ignited by means of a wire or filament 12 heated by an electric current, the wire or filament 12 is curved substantially concentric with the pilot-jet outlet 7, and is placed above and at one side of it and in close proximity to the airinlets 11, which are adjacent to the outlet 7. The pilot jet is mounted within but insulated from a concentric tube 3, and the gas is supplied from the outer tube 3 to the inner 7 through holes in the latter. The wire 12 is connected by supports 13, 14 to the inner and outer tubes. The tube 3 and one of the poles of the dry battery are connected to the gas pipe or to earth, and the other pole is connected to an insulated ring provided with a spring 21, an auxiliary spring strip 24, Fig. 3, or which is forced, when the gas cock is opened, against a contact 10 in electrical connexion with the tube 7, by an insulating-sleeve 19 on the gas cock engaging the spring 21, which forces the cock backwards sufficiently to break the circuit and close the by-pass when the cock is released.
