Abstract

29,167. Fowler, R. H., Pepper, A., and Royston, H. Dec. 15. Ploughs; cultivators. - In disk ploughs or cultivators for power cultivation, t h e disks are removably mounted on more than one set of adjustable endto-end shafts, carried behind o n e another in movable bearings on a frame freely and adjustably suspended from a main frame which is adapted to be turned round at the end of each bout. The disk-carrying frame is connected by chains c, Fig. 2, to lifting-mechanism such as described in. Specifications 4514/96 and 4888/10. It is also connected to bell-crank levers on the main frame a, which is preferably of the kind described in Specification 21,747/08. The bell-crank levers are connected by a right and left hand screw, by turning which the lower frame may be raised or lowered to regulate the effective weight on the disks. The lower frame comprises bars i pivotally, flexibly, and adjustably connected to transverse bars e, the central bar i being cranked as shown so that the lines of travel of the rear disks may be between those of the front disks. The disk shafts m are pivotally supported by sleeves k, which may be adjusted along the bars i to change the inclination of the shafts. The disks p, Fig. 4, changeable distance-pieces q, and bush r are threaded on the shaft m and clamped together by a nut s. The bush r turns in an oil-retaining bearing n carried by a pin mounted in a socket l on the sleeve k.
