Beat or lift valves; cam gears.-A terminalexhaust engine is arranged to discharge the wetter steam through the exhaust ports, and to retain the drier steam in the compression space. For this purpose the valves are centrally arranged, the cylinder head jacketed, and the piston is formed with a convex surface. The admission valve m is placed in the centre of the cylinder head and the supplementary exhaust valve s, described in Specification 15,353/10, is arranged in the centre of the piston. The valve s is operated by a cam w on the end of the connecting-rod, and the exhaust takes place into a chamber z, which communicates by passages y with the exhaust ports q.
