Abstract

27,884. Shuman, F. Nov. 30. Rotary and oscillating valves.- An oscillating disk valve 20 at each end of the cylinder has radial slots 21 controlling corresponding ports 19 in the cylinder heads. Preferably, these valves are used for exhaust only, the admission valves 24 being constructed and operated as described in Specification 27,883/10. Cam gears.-Each valve 20 is connected by an eccentric-pin to a rod 32 pivoted to an arm on a rock-shaft 35. The shaft 35 carries a cam 34 bearing against a cam 36 on a shaft 37. The shafts 37 are connected by radius arms 38 and a link 39, which is reciprocated from an eccentric on the crank-shaft by means of a link 51, lever 41, and eccentric rod 42.
