Abstract

Road-vehicle signals; reflector signals. - In order to render it more conspicuous, a warning signal of the reflector type for cycles and other vehicles is arranged to give an intermittent or flashing light. Two methods of effecting this are described. Fig. 1 shows a frame a, provided with a reflecting surface, consisting of several pieces of silvered glass b, b<1>, b<2> at an angle with one another, or of facets on a solid mass, and provided, if desired, with a plain or coloured covering-glass or lens. The reflector a is swung on a pin c attached to a part of the cycle such as the back-stay, by the lugs a' and bearing a<2>, so that it is free to be oscillated by the vibrations of the cycle, the oscillations being limited by stops if desired. In Fig. 2, the reflector a is provided with a shutter e, such as a rubber flap, which is adapted to oscillate about its point of support e<1> and so intermittently cover the reflector; at the same time it serves to keep the covering glass or lens d clean.
