Abstract
25,122. White, T., and Christie, W. Oct. 29. Drilling-machines.-Automatic horizontal boring-machines of the kind described in Specification 2086/02 are provided with oppositelydisposed cam-operated reciprocating headstocks carrying rotating cutting-tools operating in unison, and have a work-holder consisting of two notched disks mounted on an horizontal shaft adapted to be intermittently rotated, and also reciprocated vertically. The headstocks A, carrying the rotary tools E are slidably mounted on the bed B of the machine and are reciprocated by pins H and cams F, screws J being used for adjustment. The work-holder is mounted on slides U, V and consists of two grooved disks Q joined together and adapted to be intermittently rotated through bevel-gearing R, S from a stop-wheel O and a single-tooth wheel L, and reciprocated vertically by links a from a cam-wheel X, the bevel-wheel S being slidably mounted on its shaft to allow this. A vertically reciprocating clamp-piece c is also actuated to clamp the work during operations through links and rods b also operated from the cam-wheel X.
