Oxygen. - In preparing a catalyst, for example manganese dioxide, for use with perborates and like compounds in oxygen baths, solid and only slightly permeable bodies, such as oilcloth, wood, paper, or varnished sheet metal, are combined or impregnated with the catalyst which, in the case of manganese dioxide, is derived from potassium permanganate. Alternatively, the bath itself may have an internal coating of manganese dioxide.
