Levels.-A spirit-level: tube e has its ends cemented into blocksb of rubber or other elastic material, which are contained between a base-plate a of channel section and a cover f. Screws h pass through the cover and the blocks and work in the dished portions i of the baseplates, so that by turning these screws, the blocks b are compressed or released, and the level consequently adjusted. The blocks are scooped out at n to facilitate the adjustment. Additional holes c may be formed for viewing the bubble from the sides; and a second spirit tube, at right-angles to the first, may be attached to the end of the instrument for plumbing purposes.
