Abstract

22,113. Adkins, A., and Faire Bros. &. Co. Sept. 23. Lasts. - A two - part last is provided with a spring - actuated autom a t i c locking - device. The fore-part and the heel-part are connected by a plate c mounted on a pivot d in the forepart a. A latch 1 of wedge-shaped crosssection is pivoted on the fore - part, and maintained in contact with the plate c by a wire spring 3. When the last is fully extended, the latch is pressed by its spring into a notch formed in the hinge-plate, thus locking the last in its extended position. The latch is withdrawn by pulling a string 7. A. tail-piece 6 on the latch prevents straining of the spring 3 by abutting against the hinge-plate.
