Abstract

21,912. Gaunt, W. F. Sept. 21. Buttons. - Buttons of leather, compressed horn, or of hoof, having a metal back-plate and attaching - loop, are provided with badges, letters, numerals, &c., fixed so as to be flush with the front face of the button. The badge &c. 1 which is attached by spikes 2, is compressed by dies into the face of the button, the ends of the spikes, if they are long enough, being turned over by the back-plate. The badge &c. has chamfered edges 5, over which the material of the button closes to form a kind of dovetail attachment.
