Regulating head of liquid directly.-A rod 21, of the same diameter as the water-passage, but with a flattened portion 22 so as to limit the maximum supply of water, is provided in addition to a cock in the water-passage of a self-regulating acetylene-generator. The invention is limited in application to a generator in which the carbide is held in a basket 4 and supplied with water from a tank 6 through an equilibrium chamber 14. The water passes from this chamber through the pipe 17, cock 18, enters the annular space 26 surrounding the end of the rod 21, and finally drips into the perforated tube 5. The rod 21 is screwed into the socket 25. Gas passes away through a tube 9, and this tube communicates with the equilibrium chamber through a pipe 13.
