Approach of trains, alarm apparatus for warning platelayers and the like of.-A bell c is mounted on a portable platform b and operated by a Bowden-wire or like connexion from a treadle dl supported near the rail on another portable platform. The treadle d' is connected by a series of links, as shown, to the wire f. The platforms may be bolted to the rails or sleepers, or otherwise fixed if necessary. For double tracks, two bells may be mounted on one platform, together with semaphore arms to indicate from which direction the train is approaching. A semaphore or bell may also be mounted near the treadle to warn the enginedriver.
