Abstract

19,017. Wetterwald, J. Aug. 12. Submarine vessels, special apparatus for.-In a device for controlling by a single steering-lever two controlling or steering members of submarine vessels, the lever 15 is pivoted at 14 on a spindle 13, which carries by arms 16 a double rack 17. Pivots 19, Fig. 2, at right-angles to the spindle 13 carry arms 20, which support a second double rack 21. The hand-lever 15 passes between both racks and is provided with locking- pawls 22, 24 at right - angles to one another; these pawls are carried by a sleeve 29 slidable in the hollow upper end of the lever. The sleeve is fixed at the end of a rod 28, which is normally raised by a spring 31 acting on a button 27. By depressing the button the pawls are freed from the racks, and the lever can then be moved in any direction to operate the controlling and steering members through the cords 7, 8, Fig. 2.
