Abstract

18,303. Tyer, E. Aug. 2. Tablet systems.-In tablet apparatus of the type described, for example, in Specification 1904/91, the tablets are stored in a cylindrical magazine m and are moved to bring them into position for the withdrawal or insertion of a tablet by the rotation of a screw-threaded spindle b geared to the commutator spindle a by a two-to-one gear a<1>, b'. The commutator spindle is normally locked, and is released as usual bv a local circuit after the receipt of a releasing-current from the distant end. A slide plate n has a hole which registers with the bore of the magazine when in the position shown. A turn of the spindle raises a tablet above the plate. When the plate is pushed in, it passes below the tablet, and at the same time closes over the remaining tablets in the magazine. A lug o<1> on the hinge of the lid o contacts with the plate n so that the lid cannot be opened except when the plate has been pushed in and the lug o<1> is in register with a slot in the plate n. When placing a tablet in the magazine, the plate n is pushed in, and the lid o raised and closed again over the tablet, which is placed on top of the plate n. The plate n is then pulled out, and the tablet pressed by a plunger o<2> down past an arm p<1>, Fig. 7, of a lever secured upon a vertical spindle p<2>. The movement of this lever raises a locking-pin p<4> into a hole in the plate n. The movement of the spindle p<2> releases a locking-pawl q from the screwed spindle b, and breaks the circuit to line at a spring switch. The commutator spindle must then be turned to lower the tablet into the magazine. When the pawl q again locks the screwed spindle, the spring switch re-makes the circuit to line, and the arm p moves to release the lock of the plate w.
