Abstract

15,415. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. July 10, 1909, [Convention date]. Regulation, automatic systems and apparatus for.-The voltage of alternating-current generators is regulated by means of regulating- resistances, the resistance of which varies with the temperature, arranged in a closed circuit h and connected up to the alternator through a single transformer r, l, of which one coil r is fed by the terminal voltage, and the other coil l by the load current, and to the exciter field circuit f. The points of connexion to the alternating- current circuit are equipotential with respect to the points of connexion to the direct-current circuit, and vice versa. The alternating current may be supplied to the resistances h through a transformer k connected in series with the transformer coil r. The number of turns of the two coils r, k is such that a greater part of the terminal voltage is taken by the coil r. The coils r, l are so connected that, with non-inductive load, their terminal voltages differ in phase by more than 90 degrees, this angle increasing with increasing phase displacement of the load. To obtain a practically constant voltage of the generator, the transformer r, l is so arranged that its core works at high saturation.
