12,233. Davidson, E. M. May 18. Chemicals and substances; fire-extinguishing by solutions.-A fire - extinguishing compound consists of carbon tetrachloride having carbon dioxide in solution. The compound may also contain a small quantity of ammonia gas, and ingredients, such as oil of amber and oil of mirbane (nitrobenzol), which increase the electric resistance of the solution and cause an electric resistance deposit to be thrown down on the burning material when the solution volatilizes, so that fires in electric apparatus may be readily extinguished. Specification 3704/09 is referred to.
