Abstract

10,692. Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges. May 1, 1909, [Convention date]. Alternator-currentcommutator machines.-To obtain sparkless commutation at all speeds in alternating-current commutator, machines having working windings on the stator and rotor, the adjustment of the potential impressed upon the working windings is effected partly by a device under the control of the operator and partly by automatic devices dependent upon the speed. The power transformer t is provided with two secondary windings w, w<1>, the former of which supplies current to the stator working winding c, commutating-coils h, and exciting-transformer t<1>. The working brushes a are connected to the secondary winding w<1>. The ampere-turns of the primary winding of the power transformer are regulated by the operator, while the voltages supplied by the windings w, w<1> are regulated by switches actuated by speed-responsive devices of any type. Instead of connecting the windings c, h in series, they may be connected independently to the winding w, and the potential impressed upon the commutating coils h may be governed automatically according to the speed. Both the adjustment of the total potential and its distribution on the stator and rotor working windings may be effected by the operator.
