Abstract

10,173. Crocker, S. H. April 26. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Wood, treating with liquids.-Apparatus for holding slats of wood during treatment with liquids &c., and subsequent drying, comprises two rectangular frames A, A<1> joined by channelled pieces B and provided with feet a<1>. The slats C are arranged in layers separated by slips c, which slide in the pieces B. A pressure frame D is arranged on top, and is held down by a bar E engaging a stud a<2> and a spring pressure device a<3> mounted on the frame A<1>. The apparatus is placed on the feet a<1> in the liquid &c., which has free access to all the slats by the channels formed by the slips c between adjacent layers. The spring pressure frame D prevents warping &c. during the treatment and the subsequent drying, while allowing for contraction or expansion. The slats and slips can be removed separately by turning, the frame on its. side and removing the frame D so as to allow the slats to fall out; by turning it into the position of Fig. 1 inverted, after the removal of the slats, the slips c fall out.
