Atmospheric gas burners; mantles; burners, materials for.-Mantles M for a gas fire are made by stamping and shaping nickel wiregauze of about 30 meshes to the inch. They are placed over burner caps C, and in grooves G<1> in a brick back-plate G. The mantles are tapered, and their lower ends are enlarged at M', Fig. 2, to clear the burner caps, which have projections P, Fig. 3, or the like to keep the ends of the mantles concentric with the caps. The nickel gauze is fitted in apertures C<2> of the burner head, and suitable air and gas regulators are fitted at R'.
