Crucibles.-A lid for preventing the escape of fumes from brass-founders' and like crucibles, and formed with a segmental gap to correspond with the pouring-lip C, is provided with a depending lip or curtain E. The lid is secured by several depending arms G, and attached to that arm opposite the gap is a depending resilient strip H to engage with the ring of the carrier J.
