9102. Watson, C., and Paget, Sir R. A. S. April 14. Helical springs. -Consists in making these by coiling a V-shaped bar, as shown in the Figure, so as to produce a double spring with right and left hand portions. Such a spring is intended for use where one end of the spring is fixed, and it is desired to avoid rotation at the other end when the spring is stressed.
