Abstract

9042. Noelle, M., [Aumund, H.]. April 14. Rope railways; travelling ropeway conveyers ; systems.-Vehicles running on an elevated rail or rope are connected to form an endless series, some of the vehicles being self-propelled. The motive power can be transmitted by friction between the carrying wheels and the fixed rails or ropes, Fig. 3, or by special friction gear acting on the carrying rope G or on a stationary rope H, Fig. 4, in which case the rope G can move with the vehicles. Duplicate parallel tracks may be carried by the same standards, one track being an auxiliary to the other, or for the reverse direction. The tracks can be connected at several points, where arrrangements are provided to disconnect a vehicle from one rope and connect it to the other. To keep the vehicles vertical, a lever, Fig. 3, may be used, which may act as a tension adjuster by providing it with a spring pivot. Where electro-motors are used, the carrying and coupling ropes complete the electric circuit.
