Explosions, preventing in grinding and crushing mills.-Relates to that type of apparatus for preventing dust explosion in mills for grinding or crushing malt or other grain &c., in which the capacity of a delivery chamber beneath the rollers varies automatically in proportion to the quantity of ground material passing through, the passage being thus maintained full and free from air spaces. A delivery passage e beneath the rollers a, a<1> is formed by means of a plate c, which is pivotally mounted at c' and is pressed towards the roller a by a spring d. The size of the outlet e<1> from this passage is automatically regulated according to the movement of the plate c, which engages a screw i on a rocking bracket f adapted to turn a pivoted plate h about the ends of bolts j. A lip c<2> on the plate c prevents the flour &c. from passing too rapidly owing to vibration.
